# MCP

The Bloom Credit Model Context Protocol (MCP) server enables AI-powered code editors like Cursor and Windsurf, plus general-purpose tools like Claude Desktop, to interact directly with your Bloom Credit API and documentation.

## What is MCP?

Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that allows AI applications to securely access and contextualize external data sources and tools. The Bloom Credit MCP server provides AI agents with:

* **Documentation search** capabilities
* **Code generation** assistance for Bloom Credit integrations
* **Error investigation** assistance for Bloom Credit API responses

{% hint style="info" icon="book" %}
MCP servers are not a replacement for existing APIs or any automations you’ve already configured. It offers similar functionality of our APIs but using protocols AI agents can better understand and utilize.
{% endhint %}

## Bloom Credit MCP Server Setup

Bloom Credit hosts a remote MCP server at `https://developers.bloomcredit.io/mcp`. Configure your AI development tools to connect to this server. While this list is not exhaustive, the base setup is similar for most AI enabled developer tools.

**Cursor**

1. Open Cursor Settings
2. Navigate to "Tools & Integrations"
3. Click "New MCP Server"
4. Add the following to the mcp.json config file.

```
"mcpServers": {
        "bloomcredit": {
          "url": "https://developers.bloomcredit.io/mcp"
        }
      }
```

**Windsurf**

1. Open Settings
2. Search for "MCP"
3. Under Cascade, click "Manage plugins"
4. Click "View raw config"
5. Add the following

```
"mcpServers": {
        "bloomcredit": {
          "url": "https://developers.bloomcredit.io/mcp"
        }
      }
```

## Testing Your MCP Setup

Once configured, you can test your MCP server connection:

1. **Open your AI editor** (Cursor, Windsurf, etc.)
2. **Start a new chat** with the AI assistant
3. **Ask about Bloom Credit** - try questions like:
   * "How do I \[common use case]?"
   * "Show me an example of \[API functionality]"
   * "Create a \[integration type] using Bloom Credit"

The AI agent should now have access to Bloom Credits documentation through the MCP server.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://developers.bloomcredit.io/mcp-server/mcp.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
